According to data released by the China Stone Material Association, in the first nine months of 2020, imports in value of stone materials from China decreased by 17.4% compared to the same period last year.
This decline
is mainly due to sharp cuts in purchases of raw stone, for a value of 1.6
billion dollars (-17.6%). On the other hand, Chinese demand for finished and
semi-finished products was stable with a slight increase in value of 3%.
As for
exports, from January to September 2020, despite a decline in exported
quantities, the Chinese stone industry sold marbles, granites and natural
stones in general for a total value of 4.13 billion dollars on the
international markets with a growth of 13.6%, thanks to a strong recovery in
the second and third quarters.
